The Canadian education system is under the complete jurisdiction of the provinces and territories (States). Public education in Canada is free up to secondary school. Undergraduate and post graduate universities are divided into community colleges and universities.
Canadian universities offer different kinds of courses:
These are shorter duration courses, usually one or two years long. A wide variety of certificate and diploma courses in all disciplines are available in Canadian universities.
3 year programs which can sometimes be extended to a Bachelors Degree.
Bachelor degrees are four years in duration.Canadian institutions offer awide range of disciplines to choose from.
These courses can be taken following the completion of a 3 or 4 year bachelor degree. They may either stand alone or be credited towards a Master degree. They usually include full-time work opportunities to gain practical experience. These'co-op' terms are usually of 12 to 17 weeks duration.
Usually of 2 years duration following a 4 year bachelors degree (or a 3 year bachelors degree & a 1 year Canadian post graduate diploma). Master degrees provide opportunities for further learning and research and broaden career possibilities.
Intensive research degrees that emphasize independent research. The duration of the courses range from 4 to 7 years.
Co-op is a work termincluded in the course curriculum. It provides an excellent opportunity for students to gain first hand practical experience related to the field of their specialization. Co-op provides full time opportunities that last for 12 to 17 weeks. Co-Operative work programs combine courses in many subjects with relevant work, giving students an invaluable head start with their careers. This helps International students to connect with the Canadian job market and to build networks with Canadian companies.
Finding part time work in Canada is not difficult. Students are permitted to work part time on campus during the first 6 months of their program and off campus part time thereafter for a maximum duration of 20 hours per week.
Canada offers many options for international students to work in the country after they complete their course.
Under this program international students who have graduated from a participating Canadian post-secondary institution can gain valuable Canadian work experience through a special work permit issued for the length of the study program, up to a maximum of 3 years.
This is a program that allows international students who have graduated from a participating Canadian post-secondary institution to apply to permanently stay in Canada. For eligibility, the student must be able to communicate in English or French, be familiar with Canadian culture, and be able to prove that they can contribute to the Canadian society.
This program is for international students who have the skills, education and work experience required to make an immediate contribution to a Canadian state. In this program, a Canadian province or territory will nominate a student to become a permanent resident of Canada. For this you must plan to live in the province that nominated you and must apply directly to that province. You must also submit a separate application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada for permanent residence.
Age : Up to 25 Years (With genuine work exp.)
Qualification : 12th / All Diploma holders (10+3, 10+2+3) / All Bachelor degree / All Master Degree.
Academic : Above 55 % or minimum 2nd class & max. 4 – 6 backlogs.
Experience : Maximum up to 5 years with genuine work experience certificates.
IELTS : Minimum overall 6.0 band require (no band less than 5.5) for Diplomas
Overall 6.5 bands required for PG programs & Programs related to Dental, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Nursing – some colleges require overall 7.0 Band.
College Fees : CAD $13,000 to $15,000 for 1 year (2 Semester) Tuition fees.
Proof of funds : Evidence of purchase of a special Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) from a participating Canadian financial institution (Scotia Bank), in the amount of $10,280 CAD to cover living expenses for first year in Canada and evidence of payment for first year / semester tuition fees.
You can fulfil the financial requirement by submitting a copy of the receipt for 1st semester / 1st year tuition fee & a copy of an Educational Loan from an Indian Chartered Bank equivalent to $ 10000 to $ 25000 depends upon program selected.
